Evening Behind the Scenes Tours

$65 Per Person

Most Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays, from early June through August
Access to gardens and grounds 1 to 8 pm; first House Tour begins at 5:30.

Experience the Monticello Plantation afterhours.  See the full house including the upper floors and view the plantation. Learn about Jefferson and the times in which he lived, his free and enslaved families, and other enslaved and free people who lived at Monticello. This exclusive pass allows guests to explore the mountaintop after the regular closing time, providing a peace and quiet for reflection that differs from the activity of a day visit. Group size and tours are strictly limited.

Arrive in the afternoon, and take part in guided tours of Monticello’s gardens and the Slavery at Monticello Tour. Browse the exhibition galleries and the Shops at Monticello on your own before your guided house tour (timed entry provided at purchase). After the tour you can choose to roam the grounds or engage in conversation with knowledgeable staff who will continue to offer insight into Jefferson’s world, slavery and the plantation, and ideas that helped shape early America.
